Description
The soil liming process prevents the migration of phytotoxic elements such as manganese and aluminium which reduce growth and negatively affect crop development.
Crops require a specific pH level to ensure optimal growth. Rainfall and, currently, intensive farming practices cause continuous soil acidification. Correcting the soil pH is necessary to maintain yields throughout the various agricultural cycles and growing seasons. To this end, Calcinor has developed a range of products based on lime and calcined dolomite.
The application of calcium oxide or calcium-magnesium oxide neutralizes the acidity of agricultural soil by adjusting the soil pH, which allows:
- To prepare the land so that the crop assimilates nutrients under optimal conditions.
- To eliminate the phytotoxic properties of aluminium, a basic element of silicates, by transforming them into other ionic species that are non-toxic to crops.
- This also reduces the solubility of heavy metals, and with it, their bioavailability in crops.
In addition to pH, the addition of products designed by Calcinor:
- It helps regulate the soil's calcium content. The soil's calcium content indicates its suitability for agricultural use. To regulate this calcium content, products containing calcium or magnesium, such as limestone and dolomite, or their corresponding oxides, are used.
- It stabilizes the structure of agricultural soil, particularly with regard to calcium products. Stable soil is essential for obtaining the fundamental properties that allow for good crop growth.
- The magnesium contained in our products is a component of chlorophyll, necessary for the chemical reaction of photosynthesis in plants.
Oxide-form products are assimilated and quickly correct the pH of the soil, while carbonates have a medium-term assimilation and regulatory effect.
