Calcium and magnesium are essential for crop growth and animal feed. Liming (whitewashing with lime) increases the mineral fertility of acidic soils.
Crops require a specific pH level to grow optimally. Rainfall and, currently, intensive farming practices cause soil acidification. Correcting the soil pH is necessary to maintain yields throughout the various agricultural cycles and growing seasons; for this purpose, various products based on lime or calcined dolomite have been developed.
